Insurance & Benefits

Who pays for Massage Therapy?
Most extended health plans cover some or all of the cost of your treatment, and many workplaces also include a Health Care Spending Account you can use. Some insurers ask for a doctor's note before approving coverage, so it's worth checking your policy. We offer direct billing for many providers, or you're welcome to simply pay at the time of your visit.
Do I need a doctor's referral to book a massage?
No, you don't need a doctor's referral to book with us — just give us a call. That said, it's a good idea to check your individual insurance policy, since some providers require a note in order to reimburse you. Our clinic team can help answer any questions along the way.

Your Appointment

Will a massage treatment hurt?
Working on deep, chronic muscle tension can bring mild discomfort, but a massage should never be painful. Our Registered Massage Therapists watch your feedback closely and adjust their pressure right away if anything feels like too much.
Do I need to completely undress for my session?
Not at all — you only undress to your own comfort level. Massage generally works best with direct skin contact, but effective treatment can also be done through clothing. You'll always stay covered with clean sheets, with only the area being treated uncovered.
Who can benefit from professional massage care?
Everyone! Whether you're recovering from an injury, dealing with everyday tension, or simply need space to relax and reset, massage therapy offers real benefits for every body type and stage of life.
Can I eat before a massage?
Sure — just try not to come in on a completely full stomach. A light snack an hour or so beforehand is usually a good idea, especially if your session includes lying face down. There's nothing worse than being uncomfortable when you're supposed to be relaxing!
Can I receive massage therapy while pregnant?
Of course you can! Many expectant mothers find prenatal massage relaxing and helpful for easing common pregnancy discomforts. It can help ease common pregnancy aches like lower back and hip pain, reduce swelling, and give you a well-deserved moment to relax. Just let us know how far along you are when you book so we can make sure you're comfortable and properly supported.
How often should I get a massage?
It really depends on your goals and how your body's feeling. If you're managing an ongoing issue, coming in every couple of weeks might make the most sense. For general stress relief and staying ahead of tension, once a month is a great baseline for a lot of our clients. We're happy to help you figure out what works best at your next visit.
Do I need to schedule an appointment in advance?
Yes — since your treatment time is reserved just for you, appointments need to be booked ahead. If your plans change, we simply ask for at least 24 hours' notice so we can offer that time to someone else.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. Because your appointment time is reserved especially for you, we ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule — that way we can offer the spot to another client who may be waiting for care. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments, may be subject to a $70 cancellation fee.
Should I tip my massage therapist?
Tips are never expected here — we're just glad you came in! That said, if you feel your therapist went above and beyond and you'd like to show your appreciation, that's completely up to you.

After Your Massage

Why do I feel sore the day after a massage?
A little soreness the next day is normal, especially after work on tight or restricted muscles — similar to how you might feel after starting a new workout. Staying well hydrated and taking a warm Epsom salt bath may help you feel more comfortable afterward.
Can I exercise after a massage?
Yes, but give your body a little time to settle first. Since your muscles have just been worked on, it's best to hold off on anything intense for the rest of the day. Light movement like walking or stretching is fine, and by the next day you should be back to your normal routine.

Professional Standards

What are the professional requirements to practice as an RMT in Ontario?
