Qigong & Qi-ssage

Gentle movement, mindful breath, and hands-on care — led by Melissa Wrobel at Wrobel Massage Therapy.

What is Qigong?

Qigong (pronounced "chee-gong") is an ancient Chinese practice that combines gentle, flowing movement, focused breathing, and quiet awareness. The word itself is often translated as "energy work" or "life energy cultivation" — the practice is built around the idea of moving with intention, breathing fully, and settling the mind.

You don't need to be flexible, athletic, or experienced to take part. Qigong is slow, low-impact, and adaptable to almost any body, which is part of why it's stayed close to Melissa's heart for so many years and why she's continued to bring it to the Kingsville community.

Melissa's Story

Why I Teach Qigong

I first discovered Qigong while I was studying acupuncture. One of my instructors encouraged us to research different Qigong masters and find the one who resonated with us most. That's when I discovered Grand Master Chunyi Lin of Spring Forest Qigong, and what started as a way to better understand acupuncture gradually became something much more meaningful.

When my own health began to change in 2020, I became much more committed to my Qigong practice. Like many people looking for answers, I hoped it would solve all of my health problems. It didn't — but it gave me something equally valuable. It brought me a sense of peace and calm during one of the most difficult times in my life. It helped with my pain, improved my sleep, and reminded me that even small, consistent practices can make a real difference.

One of the things I love most about Qigong is that it puts so much of your health back into your own hands. You don't need expensive equipment or years of experience — just a willingness to learn and practice. That's also why I keep my classes affordable. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience it, regardless of their budget.

Whether one person comes or twenty, I'll be there on Monday night. If no one comes, I'll practice anyway. Qigong is something I do for myself first, and I simply enjoy sharing it with others. Over the years we've built a wonderful little community, and spending that time together has become one of my favourite parts of teaching.
